About me
My rough profile.
My name’s Chakrit Wichian. I was born here in Bangkok, Thailand on Sunday, 1st February 1987. I was born in a mediocre family. When I was young my uncle often take me to his home where he has a good computer I can play on. Back then there was only the DOS operating system. You have to read textbooks to use it.
As a curious child I went trough pages in the book day by day and started monkeying around the system. One day, I opened up a section that teaches you how to create a batch file and program them. I could remember there are only a limited set of commands such as CHOICE, IF, GOTO and ECHO and nothing more. Since that day I started teaching myself programming.
Then I step up to Mathayom 1 and had met the computer (geek) folks at Satit Patumwan School. And I had met Aj. Pawin there. He has opened an evening course in basic Visual Basic programming. Of course, I took it without any hesitation. When I’m home I find that my uncle has a copy of it available. It was Visual Basic 4.0. I installed it and started right away and I had been programming with Visual Basic since.
When time passed by, Internet and CD-ROMs became popular, and so my knowledge extended to object-oriented programming, software engineering and many other aspects of programming. Around this time I also managed to get ranked as few of the top students to compete to be the candidate for my country’s participation in International Olympiad in Informatics (aka IOI) in which I was taught even more about all the programming techniques. I did not manage to be the candidate although I have obtained (just) a “Bronze medal”. Though considering that I am one of the best 40 during that period, I still am very proud of it.
I’m now studying at the Faculty of Science at Chulalongkorn University. I’m currently studying computer science. And the electives I’m going to pick will be those subjects concerning software engineering and all the “arts” of programming available. I am now exploring the depths of web and graphics designing, namely XHTML and CSS. And the next stop will be mastering web services and the .NET Framework 3.0.
Although I’ve been living in front of a computer all my life, I also had a lot of other interests too. They include acoustic guitar, alternative musics, Buddhism and philosophies and basketball. I also enjoy going to the sea every once in a while.
